Wir freuen uns, dass die spannenden Beiträge so ein weltweites Publikum finden. Wir gratulieren den Schülerinnen und Schülern zu ihren gelungenen, eigenständigen und informativen Artikel!

About News Decoder

News Decoder is a global educational news service for young people. Our non-profit partners with schools around the world to teach journalistic and media literacy skills that extend students’ global horizons. Our mission is to help students develop internationally-recognized global citizenship competencies.

Why we do it

In 2012, the United Nations set global citizenship education as a top priority. Global citizenship is the idea that we all belong to a broad community and common humanity, despite differences in political, economic, social and cultural systems.

Global citizenship education aims to help young people develop a set of core competencies. These include:

- being able to think critically and solve problems;
- having a sense of empathy and appreciation of diversity;
- being knowledgeable about important global issues and their interconnectedness;
- and having the skills to communicate to global audiences.

We understand that teaching global citizenship is easier said than done. It entails teaching students to challenge assumptions, separate fact from opinion, consider conflicting viewpoints, identify solutions and communicate clearly and impartially.
