Das Realgymnasium ist eine von über 5700 Schulen weltweit, die den zweijährigen Lehrgang der International Baccalaureate Organization anbieten. Das Diplom des International Baccalaureate (IB) ist eine hervorragende Zusatzqualifikation für leistungsbereite Schülerinnen und Schüler und ein Türöffner für ein Studium an ausländischen Universitäten oder Hochschulen.

Die Philosophie der IB-Organisation deckt sich weitgehend mit jener der schweizerischen Maturität: Eine ausgewogene Allgemeinbildung steht im Zentrum. Zum Ende ihrer Schulzeit legen die Schülerinnen und Schüler die Prüfungen zur Schweizerischen Maturität ab und erwerben gleichzeitig das weltweit anerkannte International Baccalaureate (IB) Diplom. Das Realgymnasium gehört zu den wenigen öffentlichen Mittelschulen der Schweiz, an denen dieser Doppelabschluss möglich ist.

Die entsprechenden Klassen werden bereits ab der 3. Klasse gebildet, während der eigentliche, zweijährige Diplomkurs des IB erst ab Ende der 4. Klasse beginnt. The Realgymnasium is one of over 5700 schools worldwide that offer the two-year programme of the International Baccalaureate Organization. The International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma is an excellent additional qualification for high-achieving students and a gateway to studying at foreign universities or colleges.

The philosophy of the IB organisation largely aligns with that of the Swiss Matura: a balanced general education is the central concern. At the end of their schooling, students take the Swiss Matura examinations and simultaneously acquire the globally recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. The Realgymnasium is one of the few upper-secondary schools in Switzerland where the IB diploma can be obtained.

The corresponding classes are formed starting in the 3rd grade, while the actual two-year IB Diploma course only begins at the end of the 4th grade.
